Description:
The Lesser White-fronted Goose mostly spends the winter in Southeast Europe but is a rare to locally uncommon winter migrant in western and central Europe.
It breeds in the spring in northern Scandinavia and Russia.
It is usually seen alone or in small groups among flocks of other geese.
The Lesser White-fronted Goose is very similar to the much commoner Greater White-fronted Goose.
The Lesser White-fronted Goose is slightly smaller and shorter necked with a rather small, stubby bill and a distinct narrow yellow eyering.
In addition, the white forehead patch of the Lesser White-fronted Goose extends higher up onto its forehead.
