Marsh Crane Fly

Description:

The Marsh Crane Fly (Tipula oleracea) looks quite similar to the Tipula paludosa which also occurs throughout Europe.
Females Tipula oleracea can be distinguished from Tipula paludosa by their wings being longer than their body.
In addition, Tipula oleracea flies during the spring months while Tipula paludosa flies mainly in August and September.
