Carpocoris purpureipennis is quite similar to and can be confused with Carpocoris fuscispinus which also occurs in The Netherlands, mainly in the eastern part. 
Carpocoris purpureipennis is mainly found in Limburg, the southern part of The Netherlands.
Both species are quite rare.
