These grasshoppers ares part of a group of species (the so called biguttulus-group) that are very difficult to identify morphologically (especially the females):
1. Chorthippus biguttulus (in Dutch: Ratelaar),
2. Chorthippus brunneus (in Dutch: Bruine Sprinkhaan), and
3. Chorthippus mollis (in Dutch: Snortikker).
The three species are best distinguished by their song characteristics.
