Description:
Eristalis horticola can be easily identified by having a dark stripe down its pale dusted face, yellow rings on the abdomen and clear dark zigzag wing bands.
The last part of the legs is mostly black.
The similar Eristalis nemorum (in Dutch: Puntbijvlieg) has no dark stripe on its face and no dark zigzag band on the wings.
