Eristalis intricaria (Hoverfly sp.)

Description:

This species is in the Eristalis family, but it looks more like a bumblebee.
It is therefore sometimes called Bumblebee Hoverfly.
Its length is 11-14 mm.
The legs are black with white pieces (knee, tar).
The females have white at the tip of the abdomen.
As in most other hoverflies, males can be easily identified by their holoptic eyes (eyes touching at the top of their heads).
Females usually have smaller eyes, which are further apart (dichoptic eyes).
