The wings of Eristalis nemorum are clear and show a small pterostigma.
Its face has a narrow black center stripe.
The similar Eristalis horticola (in Dutch: Bosbijvlieg) has bigger orange spots on its abdomen and has a dark band on the wings rather than a little spot.
