Description:
Eupeodes lapponicus (10-12 mm) has a sharp bend in the R4+5 vein of the wing (the vein that extend to the wing tip) which distinguises it from the similar Metasyrphus luniger.
The also similar Scaeva selenitica (in Dutch: Gele Halvemaanzweefvlieg) is bigger, has more hair (especially around the eyes) and is more bright looking.
