Eurasian Nightjar

Description:

On a nice evening on 6 July, I decided to go Balloërveld, which is located in the middle of the Drentsche Aa National Park and is the largest heathland area there.
When it started to get dark around 22:00, I soon saw two nightjars flying from the trees over the heath.
These are fascinating birds that have a very distinctive flight, like a moth, and often make special vibrating sounds.
The photos were taken at 22:20.
I spent around 25 minutes to watch these incredible birds hunting over the heather and occasionally coming back to the trees to rest..
