Flecked General

Description:

The Flecked General (Stratiomys singularior) is a European species of soldier fly (Stratiomyidae).
This species reaches a body length of 11 to 17 millimetres, with the males being considerably smaller than the females.
The Flecked General has long antennae and the head is covered with whitish hair and it has two yellow spots on the crown.
The shield (scutellum) is black with a yellow trailing edge.
It is found in wetland habitats from June to August.
