Indian White Tiger

Description:

Danaus melanippus is a distant cousin of the famous Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus). Danaus melanippus can usually be found near coastal and mangrove areas. This species is often confused with the Common Tiger (Danaus genutia) which is resembles, but can be distinguished by the white hindwings. In addition, the broad submarginal black band in Danaus melanippus is broader than the one in Danaus genutia.

This is the subspecies Danaus melanippus indicus.
