Land Mullet

Description:

The Land Mullet (Bellatorias major) is the largest skink in Australia, and among the largest skinks in the world.
Found mostly in the rainforests along Australia’s eastern coast, this robust lizard can grow up to 70 cm long.
Despite their size, Land Mullets are shy, nervous creatures that are not often seen.
They are uniform glossy black to brown, with a paler ring around the eye.
The species favours habitat with many fallen logs, and it remains in close proximity to these (like the ones on the photos).
