Oak Eggar Moth

Description:

The Oak Eggar Moth (Lasiocampa quercus) is a large and powerful brown butterfly within the family Lasiocampidae.
This moth has a striking yellowish, transverse line across the wings, widening towards the edge.
In the center of the forewings is a black-rimmed, white dot.
The wingspan is between 45 and 75 millimeters.
The females are larger than the males.

I found this individual at the top of the Kanisfluh Mountain (2,044 m).
