The are four subspecies of Pierella lena:
1. Pierella lena lena which is found in Suriname, Guyana, French Guiana and Brazil,
2. Pierella lena brasiliensis which is found in Peru, Bolivia and Brazil,
3. Pierella lena salma which is found in Colombia and northeastern Ecuador, and
4. Pierella lena atlantica which is found in northeastern Brazil.

This is Pierella lena lena.
