Red-billed Leiothrix

Description:

The Red-billed Leiothrix is an attractive bird which natural range is restricted to the Indian subcontinent and parts of China.
However, thanks to a helping hand from man, this stunning species has colonized a handful of spots in Italy, France and Spain.
The Lucca area is one of the very few places in Europe where you can find it.
When my wife and I were walking on the famous board walk at Lago di Massaciuccoli, I was totally, but pleasantly, surprised by bumping into a flock of at least 25 individuals that flew by, stopped in the vegetation in front of us and continued their travels into the swampy area of this lake.
