Red-shouldered Hawk

Description:

The breeding range of the Red-shouldered Hawk (Buteo lineatus) spans eastern North America and along the coast of California and northern to northeastern-central Mexico.
There are five subspecies of the Red-shouldered Hawk.
The one occurring in South Texas is Buteo lineatus texanus.
