Swollen-thighed Beetle

Description:

The male of the Swollen-thighed Beetle (Oedemera nobilis), as in most Oedemera species, possesses the hind thighs very swollen, whereas in female the thighs are thin.
The Swollen-thighed Beetle (8-10 mm) is bright green, frequently with a golden or coppery shine; some individuals are blue or violaceous.
The wing cases (elytra) are strongly narrowed at the rear, so that the hindwings are partly uncovered.
The Swollen-thighed Beetle is found in a large part of Europe and the northernmost part of North Africa.
The beetle is a particularly numerous species in Western and Southern Europe.
