Variegated Cuckoo-bee

Description:

The Variegated Cuckoo-bee (Epeolus variegatus) is a small (5-8 mm) black-and-white bee which occurs commonly in areas of heathland and is a cleptoparasite of several species of Colletes, including Colletes daviesanus, Colletes fodiens, Colletes similis and Colletes halophilus. 
The Variegated Cuckoo-bee has mostly red colored legs.
The females have more red colored parts: the shoulder bumps and the base of the wings (tegulae).
