Common Raven

Description:

The Common Raven (Corvus corax) is one of the rare breeding birds in The Netherlands.
After extinction in The Netherlands (early 20th century) and a difficult reintroduction from 1966, the Raven is now doing quite well in our country.
A pair of Common Ravens has been nesting in the Spanderswoud near my house since 2014 and since 2017/2018 Common Ravens have built a nest in the television tower (at a height of 140 meters) next to the Spanderswoud, which I can see from my garden.
In recent years, I have seen the birds flying around the tower with great regularity, often playing their characteristic "croc-croc" sounds.
The Common Ravens that I see almost every day in the spring are often accompanied by a pair of Peregrine Falcons who use the television tower as a base to hunt pigeons.
