Description:
Reduvius personatus is a large and black bug but the bases of the antennae and tibae are pale.
This species is associated with humans (synanthropic) and breeds in houses, feeding on a range of small insects such as bedbugs, silverfish, booklice, earwigs and flies.
The bug does not suck blood or spread disease; it may however inflict a painful bite if handled roughly.
Reduvius personatus is sometimes also called Masked Hunter because the immature Masked Hunter carries dust on its body to camouflage itself.
They may appear as walking piles of dust and fluff.
I found this individual sitting on the outside wall of a house.
