In August 2012, I visited a friend near Münster, Germany and spent an afternoon birding in the Rieselfelder European Nature Reserve in Münster, which especially in spring is a great birding place.

After that, I decided to drive to the North-Western part of Poland, just across the German border and visit the Ujscie Warta National Park for a day and further north, the Swinoujscie area (Wolin NP + Karsiborska Kepa Reserve), near the Baltic Sea and the German border.

Both beautiful areas with lots of birds, like White-tailed Eagle, and other wild life.
