In March 2009, before going to Belize, my birding friends Jan and Erik and I spent some time birding in Brazos Bend State Park in the Houston area.

Brazos Bend State Park is one of the best places in the vicinity of Houston to go birding.
I have been here about 5 times and it was never a disappointment.
Entrance is free, but be aware of the many aligators in the park.
