Description:
The Danaid Eggfly is well known for its polymorphism and mimicry.
Males are blackish on the upperside, with distinctive white circular spots that are fringed in blue.
Females are quite different in appearance and occur in multiple different forms that include male-like forms while others closely resemble the toxic (to birds) butterflies Danaus chrysippus (Plain Tiger) and Danaus plexippus (Monarch Butterfly).
They are found across Africa, Asia, and Australia.
