Ethiopian Epauletted Fruit Bat

Description:

Epauletted Bats are bats within the genus of Epomophorus in the family Pteropodidae (Old World Fruit Bats).
There are 10-11 different species of Epauletted Bats which all occur throughout Africa.
Uganda has two species: the Ethiopian Epauletted Fruit Bat (Epomophorus labiatus) and the Wahlberg Epauletted Fruit Bat (Epomophorus wahlbergi).
The two species look very similar and are extremely difficult to distinguish in the field.
The manager of the Kibale Forest Lodge, where I found this bat, told me that this is the Ethiopian Epauletted Fruit Bat which is a small, pale brown bat.
The only markings on the head are white patches immediately in front of and behind the base of the ear.
