There are various subspecies of the Eurasian Buzzard but only one subspecies occurs in southern Africa: Buteo buteo vulpinus, also called Steppe Buzzard.
The Steppe Buzzard occurs in South Africa as a non‐breeding summer migrant and is one of the most common species of raptor in southern Africa during the summer months.
