The Kob Antelope resembles the Impala but is more robust and has a distinct black stripe down the front of the forelegs.
Kobs are almost exclusively grazers, and confined to grasslands near water and regions that have year-round access to water. 
They live in groups of either females and calves or just males.
These groups generally range from five to forty animals.

Three subspecies are usually recognized:
1. White-eared Kob (Kobus kob leucotis) (South Sudan),
2. Uganda Kob (Kobus kob thomasi) (Uganda and surrounding areas), and
3. Buffon’s Kob (Kobus kob kob) (protected areas in parts of West and Central Africa).

The subspecies occurring in Uganda is (obviously) Uganda Kob (Kobus kob thomasi).
