Description:
Techinia acerata looks a little different from Telchinia jodutta unless you only see the underside of the wings as they are almost the same.
However, there are some subtle differences.
Telchinia acerata has small (faded) orange bars between the black spots on the underside of the hindwing which are absent in Telchinia jodutta (clearly visible in the photos).
Furthermore, Telchinia acerata's ventral abdominal stripe is cream and not orange as in Telchinia jodutta.
Until recently, this butterfly was named Acraea acerata.
It appears that many species formerly considered to belong to the genus Acraea may now belong to the genus Telchinia.
Thomas Desloges, an expert on tropical African butterflies and based in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, helped me identify this species.
